Homestead
 
  The City of Homestead is governed by a Mayor-Councilman and six Councilpersons. City Council is elected at large on a nonpartisan basis. The Mayor-Councilmen presides over all City Council meetings, has a voice and vote in the proceedings, and serves as the ceremonial head of the City.

The City Council enacts local legislation, adopts budgets, determines policies, and appoints such officers and officials as may be required by the charter or deemed necessary by the Council.
