  On September 10, 2002, the Village became officially incorporated. The Village is bounded on the north by S.W. 136th Street, on the south by S.W. 184th Street, on the west by the central commercial corridor of U.S.1, and on the east by Biscayne Bay. The 24,000 + citizens now enjoy the extra police protection, parks improvements, and enhanced public works that cityhood has brought. Constructive changes in the aesthetics of street maintenance,swales, and signage are currently in the works.
